THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL AHEAD

The Gers put in their best performance of the season last night but could only manage a draw against Malmo in Sweden. The cause wasn’t helped by having Steven Wittaker sent off in the 17th minute, but things were looking good when Nikica Jelavic scored a great goal in the 22nd minute. Even when Madjid Bougherra was sent off in the 65th minute it looked as though we could hang on and record a remarkable win. But Malmo scored through a great strike from Hamad in the 83rd minute meaning the Gers now drop into the Playoff draw for the Europa League where we will be seeded alongside teams such as Sevilla, Roma, Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain.

You can see Jelavic’s goal below:

Next game for The Gers is the friendly at Ibrox against Chelsea on Saturday. The match kick-off at 6pm local time and will be shown Live in Centre Circle as always, however as it’s Ramadan although the bar will open at 5.30pm there will be no alcohol on sale until 8pm.

The Chelsea game will be the first Golden Goal match of the season.  There are only one or two spots left, but if you want to participate please contact George Wilson ASAP.
